Feeling unwell, sick or just not yourself can be not only a worry but a strain on your day to day life. (...)

Feeling unwell, sick or just not yourself can be not only a worry but a strain on your day to day life. If you can not shake this feeling after a few days you may even start to worry you have something seriously wrong.

People who have an unknown sickness tend to ignore the symptoms and hope they go away, however the longer you leave the unknown sickness the worse you will feel and you may even begin to pretend to yourself the symptoms are no longer there.

Most people suffer from headaches and a general feeling of unwell at some point in time but if you feel your symptoms do not have a specific reason and they are not getting any better over time it is best to get seen by a doctor even if it is simply to ease your mind.

Ignoring an unknown sickness could have disastrous effects, if you have something serious the sooner this is diagnosed and treated the better. That said your unknown sickness could be something that can be treated with a course of medication and all your worry would have been for nothing.

Unknown sickness can cause a significant amount of stress to an individual, often making the symptoms seem worse than they really are. The most important thing you can do to get you on the path of feeling better is to see a doctor and find out the cause.

With so many diseases and illnesses around today it is important to try to live a healthy life to reduce the posiblity of having a certain disease. Understanding the right foods and introducing some exercise into your life could reduce the risk of heart problems later in life.

It is never too late to change your lifestyle, even if you are in you 50s and have always been a smoker, don’t think 'its too late now' it isn’t, giving up unhealthy aspects of your life at any point will only make you feel better and help towards a longer healthier life.

It is important to teach and bring our children up as healthy and active as we can, reducing as much risk of unknown sickness as possible and educating them on the right foods to eat and what is best to avoid helping you to remain fit and healthy.

Above all it is imperative that we do not ignore lumps and bumps that are worrying us, or to ignore the feeling that isn’t right but won't go away, you may find it is nothing and have saved yourself months of worry.

If the problem is something that you feel embarrassed about remind yourself that doctors are there to help and have probably seen many many people with the same symptoms. Having an unknown sickness diagnosed is the best way to begin the path of getting well again.

Having a baby is a beautiful experience for anyone and the first thing that springs to mind is what will you call your baby?. (...)

Having a baby is a beautiful experience for anyone and the first thing that springs to mind is what will you call your baby?. Some people already know the sex of the child which makes choosing a name a whole lot easier but for those that don’t, a can of worms is about to be opened.

Deciding whether the name should be something traditional or maybe you would prefer to think about rare baby names is the first thing you will need to decide. A baby's name is its first sense of identity so it is important to choose wisely. It is also possible to change more traditional names to appear rare by changing the spelling or adding additional letters.

Most people like to know what a baby's name actually means before naming their child, some of the rare baby names may not have an actual meaning because they are a version of a more traditional name.

Although the trend these days for celebrities is to choose rare baby names and often names that we may laugh at, it is important to remember that the child will have to go through their entire life being called this name so be aware that the name you bestow on your child may not be appreciated by your son or daughter in years to come, forcing them to have to change their name at a later date.

Finding rare baby names may be difficult as you may find you are left with a list of names that are nothing more than silly. The last thing you want is to promote a lifetime of taunts and name calling.

The best way to find rare baby names is to visit your local library to search through the baby name books, there is really little point purchasing books when you can view them free of charge. The other option is to search the internet for rare baby names, make a list then gradually reduce the names as and when you can.

What ever name you do decide to give your child it is bound to be special and unique to the child in question. Some people say they had their name picked but once the baby was born it just didn’t fit and the perfect name just came to them.

Don’t agonize over choosing your baby's name, take your time when looking and remember this is one of the experiences of child birth and having children that should be enjoyed and cherished. Whether you decide on rare baby names or something traditional you will know when the right name comes up.

Above all, remember that the name you choose will stay with the child for a very long time so choose wisely.

Knowing the signs of stroke could help save a life. (...)

Knowing the signs of stroke could help save a life. Although some factors are hereditary which can not be changed those that are at risk due to lifestyle or their environment can reduce the risk of having a stroke by changing certain aspects of their life.

Most people assume that having a stroke is more common in older adults however there is also a large percentage of people under 65 who are at risk of a stroke. The risk of having a stroke increases if a parent, grandparent, brother or sister has had a stroke.

There are so many factors that can increase your chances including the following:-

Gender, men are at a higher risk than women when under 55 years of age, after age 55 both sexes are at equal risk.

Smoking also increases the risk of a stroke

High blood pressure and high blood cholesterol also plays a part in adding to the risk of a stroke

If you have already had a stroke you are more at risk of having another.

Obesity and having a lifestyle which is inactive can push your percentage up

Although changing you lifestyle and eating habits can help to reduce the risk you may find it does not illuminate the problem. Therefore knowing the signs of stroke can help you reach medical help faster than if you are unaware of what is happening.

The most common signs of stroke are as follows:-

A feeling of confusion, not being able to speak, or understand people properly.

Numbness of the face, leg or arms particularly if down one side of your body

Vision problems in one or both eyes

Loss of balance, coordination.

Severe Headache.

These symptoms most commonly happen out of the blue and all of a sudden however it is possible for the symptoms to progress over few hours or even days.

You will not necessarily suffer from all of the warning signs of a stroke so it is important not to ignore any of them even if they seem to ease off.

If you know that you are at high risk then be prepared, carry emergency telephone numbers for hospitals and rescue services with you at all times. Know where the nearest hospital is when travelling.

If you are with someone who is showing signs of stroke call the emergency services immediately, you may find the person strongly disagrees with you as denial is common. However it is important to ignore the protest and get help as soon as possible.

The effects of a stroke can change someone's life for ever. Depending where in the brain the stroke occurs will determine the outcome. Because one side of the brain controls the opposite side of the body if the stroke occurs on the left side of the brain the right side of the body will be affected.

If you have reached that point in your life when you think its time to cut back and loose some weight then you have probably searched the internet and library for free diet programs. (...)

If you have reached that point in your life when you think its time to cut back and loose some weight then you have probably searched the internet and library for free diet programs. Although most free diet programs follow the same principle by reducing your calorie intake most people find the motivational aspect hard to find.

When it comes to weight loss its not the will power you need it is the motivation to do it and stick to it, giving up your favourite foods and cutting back on those treats may seem depressing but how much do you want to loose the weight?. Some people find that writing a list of all the reasons you want to lose weight helps try to add to the list as you follow your free diet programs. Read your list at the beginning of each new day to remind yourself why are doing it.

It is important to remember when following any free diet programs or weight loss scheme whether it be though a class or something you are attempting on your own not to continually weigh yourself. You weigh more at different times of the day and will soon become disappointed if you get on the scales in the evening only to find you weigh more than you did that morning.

Following free weight loss programs will have its ups and downs, you may find that you have planned your week of meals and really tried to stick to it, then a friend asks you over for dinner and you fall off the wagon and indulge in foods that were not part of your diet.
If you find yourself in this situation there a two ways you can go:-
1- Get up the next morning and decide you have spoilt your diet and no free diet programs will work for you because you just can't do it.
2- Wake up, decide you had a nice evening but will start today as a new day and continue your diet as planned (maybe even do a little exercise to make up for last night)

Having the right frame of mind is the key to motivating you though your diet, if you give in one day start a fresh the next.

If you feel you are particularly struggling to stick with your healthy meals you may find it easier to join a group where everyone is in the same situation, having others to support you can be a great help and the added competition will also benefit you.

When you have found free diet programs that work for you make sure you set yourself a goal weight that is realistic and achievable, once that goal has been met set a new target weight so that you feel you have achieved something regularly. This will motivate you to continue.

Although free diet programs do work for many people joining a club where you are weighed each week and have to pay can help, parting with the money may just motivate you to stick with your plan!.

As well as the money aspect you will be with a group of people who will all understand how you feel and guide you though the change in lifestyle because essentially this is what you will begin to accept, once you have lost the weight you will understand that now is not the time to revert back to your old ways but to stick with what you have learnt and how your have changed your food options and portion sizes.

Diabetes is extremely common, in fact there are around 2 million people with this disease in the uk alone. (...)

Diabetes is extremely common, in fact there are around 2 million people with this disease in the uk alone.

It is caused by your body either not producing enough insulin or not using the body's own insulin as well as it should. This causes the sugar levels in your blood to rise.
Some of the symptoms for diabetes include:-
- excessive thirst
- excessive amounts of urine
- weight loss
- fatigue
- irritated skin (itching)
- dry mouth

Management of diabetes can not be achieved unless you follow diabetic diets, if you have recently been diagnosed with diabetes then you should receive advice from a dietician regarding which diabetic diets are best for you to follow.

When you visit your dietician they will provide you with knowledge of how to eat healthily and will most likely suggest lifestyle changes in order to reduce the risk of obesity and to ensure you stay at weight that suits your frame and height.

Diabetic diets do not just eliminate your sugar intake they are designed to help you reduce and monitor your fat intake providing you with a healthy diet that will control your cholesterol level, blood pressure and blood glucose which will lower the risk of other health problems.

If you need to loose weight and have diabetes ask your dietician for diabetic diets that not only control your sugar intake but will also help you achieve your optimum weight. You will need to loose the weight slowly and follow a strict diet rather than just cutting out meals as this can cause your levels of sugar within your body to fall extremely quickly.

Introducing a fitness plan will help loose and maintain your weight as well as help control your blood sugar. Muscle movement burns calories and sugar reducing the sugar levels within your body.

Before you begin your exercise programme it is important to remember you may need to take some precautions. If you take insulin or any form of oral diabetes medication you will need to check your blood sugar levels before you begin. If they are less than 100 mg/dl you may need to take a carbohydrate snake before you begin and it is wise to check your levels at regular intervals during your exercise.
If you are planning to exercise for a long duration of time make sure you plan carbohydrate snacks at regular intervals depending on your blood sugar levels.

Diabetes diets and exercise really isn’t that different to that of a healthy person as it follows the same nutrition principles, however if you have been diagnosed with diabetes then it is extremely important to stick to the diet.
Always seek medical advice before starting any diet to ensure you understand the best and safest ways to stay fit and healthy and achieve your goals.

Everyone knows that if you're exercising to lose some weight you need a little motivation, doing sit ups and running on a treadmill may burn those calories but let's face it, it does get quite boring as it is very hard to motivate yourself when there is little or no fun to be had when exercising this way.

You are far more likely to stick to an exercise routine if you enjoy doing and it, Wii weight loss is fun, energetic, addictive and something that can be with all the family.

The Nintendo wii is a video games console. It has a wireless remote controller which is a unlike any other games controller we have seen before. . Another benefit is the console is relatively small so not something you need to find storage for unlike your bulky rowing machines and sit up boards!.

The concept of the wireless controller is that you can control the game using physical gestures so movement plays a huge part.

Wii weight loss is something that will keep you and your family fit as well as having fun, the excersis qualities are fantastic as well as having a competitive game involved to stop the boredom setting it.

Computer consoles are something that most families have a budget for so you will be using something you would probably be buying anyway which will save you money as well as keep you fit.

If you speak to someone who already owns a wii you will soon be aware that most people after playing it for the first time get up the next morning with aches and pains. The same aches and pains you would have if you had gone to the gym proving that wii weight loss really does burn calories.

Wii weight loss means using games that can be played on the console that involve lots of movement, sports are a particular favourite, with continuous motion and the combined addictive qualities of playing a game you will soon find yourself burning off those calories whilst having fun!.

There is no specific wii weight loss plan, all you need to do is find a game you enjoy and that involves plenty of movement (boxing is a good one) have a go and see how it makes you feel, if you feel your heart rate rising and you start to sweat you know your body is burning fat and well on the way to a healthier body.

The wii is without exception a unique way to workout not only for you but for your children as well. It is a fact of life today that nearly all children love to play video games so to ensure they have a healthy life the Wii is probably the best console to buy.
